If you wouldn’t say it, don’t abbreviate it.

This post is not about the morality of swearing, course humor, or crass expressions. This post is about personal integrity and consistency.

I’m talking about people who say it’s wrong to swear or use crass words, but then go on to use such words in their emails, tweets, posts, and text messages.

I know many folks who type “lmao” but would never say that expression aloud. I know Christians who would not take the Lord’s name in vain by saying “Oh my God” but use “omg”. And finally, I know people who would never, ever drop the F-bomb, but write WTF on their Facebook posts.

Folks for the sake of consistency and integrity: if you wouldn’t say it, don’t abbreviate it (or tweet it, text it, or post it).
