Two days in South Africa

For those who have not yet heard, I would appreciate your prayers for me while I am in South Africa for CapeTown2010, the third Lausanne Congress on world evangelism.

My request for prayer is more about personal issues than the congress. If you read K’s previous post, you may recall she mentioning about some issues or “bumps” in the road. Forgive me for blogging about this on the web and then being vague, but it’s much simpler to share in person. If you’d like to pray for me, please ask and I will try to figure out a way to share. Basically God is showing me the future.

No, not in a predictive prophecy sort of way. But a future in which He is changing my sinful, selfish tendencies. I am seeing more clearly these days how I regularly grieve the Holy Spirit with my pride. I think God is showing me what it might be like to humbly follow Him into the mighty power of His Kingdom. I’ve a feeling that what limits what God is doing through me is not His power or will, but my own fallen-ness. And this future will come through some pain, a bit of suffering, and a lot of repentance. I hope that God has a breakthrough in store for my relationship with Him. I trust that such a breakthrough would positively affect my relationships with others.

Anyway, here we are in CapeTown. I’ve been so blessed to tag along with John, the Minister of Missions for Park Street Church. Thanks, John.

Please pray for God to work mightily (in me and at Lausanne) through His Spirit to bring revival, repentance, and passion for His glory among His people. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
