There they are, the last of this year’s tomato harvest. I like the fact that in this photo you can get a glimpse of the sky and trees that overlook our tomato plants. It’s a happy but initially unintended photo element. I feel a little silly posting non-family shots in our karenoch flickr photostream so I’ve put a couple shots into my turtlestar photostream. I’ll probably post photos there periodically.
It was a smaller crop this year but we still got to enjoy pasta sauce, salsa and guacamole with our tomatoes. The majority were eaten straight, some right off the plant. We may get a few straggler tomatoes but I’m calling it a season. Summer is truly coming to an end. Soon the spent plants will be tossed into the compost bin. The cycle of growth and decay will start again next spring.
