these are a few of my favorite trees…

This post is a little me-centric. For some reason, I feel like sharing. So on to my favorite trees, I have two so far.

Tree #1: White Birch tree in winter. Every winter we drive up to New Hampshire for at least one retreat. I get to enjoy the barren, snow-laden winter landscape. I realize that “barren” isn’t exactly a positive characteristic. A grove of leaf-less white birch trees nestled atop a bed of fluffy snow could change your mind. It’s like a black and white photo in real life.

Tree #2: Magnolia tree in full bloom (in spring, but you knew that). I don’t have too much experience with this tree. The ones I have seen don’t get too tall. They seem wider than they are tall. As a not-too-tall person, do I appreciate the shorter trees? I’m not sure. The blossoms are large, like what you’d imagine on a lily pad. The blossoms also fade from a deep, nearly fuschia color to a baby pink–of course it does depend on the type of Magnolia tree. Individually, each flower is elegant but on the tree…so nice. It’s like a canopy of textured cotton candy.

Ah, isn’t creation nice? I really don’t know too much about trees. I hope that over time I can add to this list. If you have candidates to suggest, I’d like to hear them. Are cacti considered trees?

p.s. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, they are greatly appreciated!
